Mantra
I was looking at an article online today at work and came across a phrase that really stuck with me:
Be brave. Be original.

Having a birthday the day after Christmas definitely sucks. Hardly anyone remembers it, and if they do, they don’t want to do anything special since they’re either still out of town or pretty spent from the holidays. Yeah, I’m being pretty whiny, but hell, it’s “my day.”

Two weeks later…things at the new job are going unbelievably well. Everyone’s been incredibly nice and it’s the first time in long time that I’ve felt completely at home where I’m working — which is especially strange since I haven’t been there very long. It’s the first time I’ve had an office to myself (let alone an office at all), and I already have everything moved in. I never even brought stuff from home for my desk at my previous job. Since quitting the paper last year, I’ve finally been able to let go of any sense of regret for moving on. While I still miss some of the people there terribly (big hugs to the newsroom), I think I’m finally where I belong. Along with my home life, this is the happiest I’ve felt in…well, I don’t know how long. Better than anything I can remotely think of anyway. ![]()
Urban Counterfeiters
I just happened upon an interesting site that documents occurrances of chain stores ripping off artists. Take a gander.
Once lost, but now found
Go to FoundMagazine. It’s an entertaining site where people can send in found items, which are posted daily.
Also, I start my new job today. Wish me luck!
Good timing, for the second time in my life!
December has been a pretty wild ride for me so far, and what, we’re only 6 days into it?! Lesee…on Thursday (okay, technically that was 11.30) I was laid off from my job on my first day back after being on work comp for the past month and a half. I paniced for about a day, but got a phone call Monday and was offered a job more closely related to my field for double what I was previously making. Wha? I think I got damn lucky on that one. If such a thing as karma exists, I think I did something good recently. Whew!
