Newsy

So lots has happened since I last posted. Derek and I are engaged (woo!), on Sunday I’m leaving for a work trip to Palm Springs (yeah, even I want to shoot me), and in February Derek and I will be having a photo show. I’ll write more when I get back next week.

Dual Art! Woo!

Shopgirl

I just finished watching the movie Shopgirl, and although I know it had gotten some not-so-great reviews, I really did enjoy watching the film. It was beautifully shot, subtly-acted. I loved the book when I read it a few years ago, and I think it transferred well to the screen. I’m sure part of why it connected with me is because the story hit a bit close to home. I think I got especially lucky, and much like Mirabelle, found the right person before the credits rolled.

Unusual eBay Responses

While waiting for the cable installer to show up, I was poking around online and stumbled upon this.

My three favorites were:
NEGATIVE: Honda R-Type sticker did not add horsepower as advertised.
NEUTRAL: Item shipped promptly and in good condition, but I should not have to bid on birthday presents from my parents.
NEGATIVE: Though you did nothing wrong, I am giving you this negative feedback to teach you that the universe is arbitrary and unfair.

If I had a $1,000,000 (part 2)

For whatever reason, the story I linked to yesterday had been taken down. Here is the new link. Still tremendously funny.

If I had a $1,000,000

This is unbelievable and hilarious.

Speak & Spell

Today I found that I have a nameplate outside my office. I’m apparently moving up in the world, but does anyone see anything wrong with this picture?

Nameplate! Woo!

I laughed for a long time when I actually read the sign. A coworker said she was glad I had such a great sense of humor about it. With a name as odd as mine, you tend to get a bit thick-skinned with this sort of thing. At least it’s not as bad as when I was going away to college and had to send a letter to the housing people stating, yes, I was female!
